Green Collar Jobs – Providing People More Career Opportunities

Let’s face it.  As the years pass by our oceans and skies are becoming polluted with various contaminants that (if no one takes action soon) will render the Earth less able to sustain life.  And there may come a time when no life would exist anymore.

It is fortunate that many nations are now taking further steps in order to save the environment by implementing energy policies that encourage electricity production through renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and solar energy instead of using fossil fuels.  And with these energy policies in place, there is also a huge opportunity to create the much needed “Green Collar” jobs for people, especially those who have been laid off from companies due to the current global economic crisis.

In the United States, President Barack Obama has launched a campaign towards promoting alternative energy and reducing global warming while at the same time hoping to create millions of new jobs for people in the country.

In fact, Obama, during the start of his administration, released an economic stimulus package that would also support the generation of Green Collar Jobs that would not only help preserve natural resources but also jump-start the economy.  In fact, five billion dollars from the stimulus package would be devoted to a low-income “weatherization” program, two billion dollars for electric car research and another five hundred million dollars to prepare and train people to be able to handle Green Collar Jobs.

To further promote his campaign for a greener Earth, the Obama Administration would initiate the country’s first program that would allow offshore projects to produce electricity through wind turbines and ocean currents.  And the energy that is harnessed from these projects could supply at least twenty percent of the total electricity needs of the United States by 2030.  At the same time, this initiative could possibly create at least two hundred and fifty thousand job opportunities for people throughout the country.

Since there is a huge opportunity for many Green Collar Jobs to become available in the near future, schools are now offering training courses to prepare people for such occupations.  Those who have been laid off from manufacturing and construction companies, for instance, are now going back to school as they anticipate the increasing demand for environmentally friendly, sustainable, jobs.

One of the schools that offer training for Green Collar Jobs is San Jose City College in Silicon Valley, California where there is a class that teaches how to install solar panels and fix wind turbines.  In fact, the instructor has mentioned that due to the popularity of this class, the waiting list has reached more than double.

There are also other colleges, not only in California, but also in other states that are in the process of expanding their course offerings to include training programs that meet the anticipated demand for Green Collar workers. And together with the Obama Administration’s support and funding for these types of training programs, more and more people will be trained to perform these jobs.

So even though the effects of the economic crisis are still looming over us, and the policies that will need to be enacted to ensure that there is a growing or Green Collar Jobs have yet to become more solidified, there is a high probability that you or someone you know will be employed in a so call Green Collar Job sometime in the near future. Advance Bulletin Commentary: Sustainable Development or the Constitution — Which Do You Choose? A proposal for Abundance Ecology

(PRWEB) May 14, 2004

Achieving Abundance Ecology requires a direct relationship between man and the land, Abundance Ecologist Michael Shaw said recently in a presentation to the Trans-Heritage Association annual meeting and conference in Alpine Texas. Shaw speaks from experience. Shaw has received acclaim for creating an ecological oasis from a blighted 75-acre parcel on the central coast of California — what he calls “Liberty Garden” (http://www.libertygarden.com).

“To release the potential productivity and diversity of a landscape, an owner must be free to engage in rigorous disturbance, and free to pursue a reasoned and creative process of trial and error. This process would be suited to the choice of each individual and the uniqueness of each property,” Shaw said. The attached article includes key excerpts from Shaw’s presentation to the Trans-Texas Heritage Association.

Shortage Ecology

“Sustainable Development” is the current buzz term that represents the effort to collectivize property in America by controlling and limiting human action. Sustainable Development is a synonym for “shortage ecology” and is embodied in the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which is the foundation of the land use element of Sustainable Development.

ESA is predicated on international treaties and is rooted in the Precautionary Principle, which abandons the legal standard that presumes innocence. Since ESA puts the government in control of plants, the ideals of private property are destroyed, natural resource shortages arise, and natural calamities — such as devastating forest fires — increase.

Political Theory

George Washington was right when he said: “Private property and freedom are inseparable.”

Private property, after all, begins with our physical person, extends to our thoughts, proceeds as our expression, becomes our action, and results in something we create or obtain. If an agent of force denies an individual the use of possessions, including land, that individual is contemporaneously denied the liberty necessary to advance his or her own life. When the use of o¬ne’s property and one’s liberty have been squelched by big government, the dignity of human life itself has been trampled.

Political theory probes the question, “Who decides…?” To answer this question, it is helpful to examine the philosophy underlying the treatment of property. Immediately, a contrast is seen between the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the United States of America and the Charter of the United Nations and the Declaration of Human Rights

Unalienable Rights

Under the American Constitutional system, individuals decide and direct the terms of their lives. The application of political theory that respects the dignity of each individual is premised on the idea that man’s rights are unalienable, and that justice must be dispensed equally. The political theory of Liberty presupposes that an individual’s rights are inherent to, our imbued within, the individual’s nature; from this, it follows that the individual has a natural right to his or her life, liberty, and property.

Granted Rights

The political theory behind contemporary political globalism answers the question quite differently. Under the Declaration of Human Rights, the permission to have and use property is obtained by way of government grant. This is because people grant “human rights” and, as such, people can take them away…

Stuff leftover after the sun forms usually turns into a system of planets. Some of these planets have solid surfaces, perhaps liquid seas and a gaseous atmosphere; a rich environment for atoms and molecules to come together in complex chemical reactions. Carbon atoms in particular, link together to form complex organic molecules and amino acids. Chemical catalysts speed reactions along. The products of one chemical reaction become the raw material for new reactions. At some level of complexity a catalyst became an enzyme, an amino acid chain became a protein, a loop of chemical reactions became a metabolism, and chemistry became … biology. BIOLOGY On our own planet, and perhaps countless others – life arose. Community Colleges: Gateways to the Green Economy

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) October 6, 2008 –

Leaders from community colleges throughout the state will gather at the Pasadena Convention Center on October 8 and 9 at the Green California Community College Summit to consider the business case for greening their facilities, and the role that these institutions can play in building a “green economy” in California.

The Summit was developed under the leadership of an advisory board that includes leaders from the system, and is chaired by Secretary of State and Consumer Services, Rosario Marin, Commissioner Timothy A. Simon of the California Public Utilities Commission and Rocky Young, Chancellor Emeritus of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD).

“Community colleges account for the lion’s share of higher education enrollment in our state, and their student population mirrors California’s rich diversity,” said Commissioner Simon. “The majority of the workers needed to fill ‘green jobs,’ and to keep California on the cutting edge of the innovation and sustainability, will pass through their doors.”

California community colleges are home to some of the country’s most ambitious green building efforts. The LACCD’s program, which has attracted international attention, is the largest green building initiative in the U.S. and includes the goal of taking all its campuses “off the grid,” meaning they will become totally energy self-sufficient. The Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology, at northern California’s Ohlone College, recently became the world’s first campus to achieve the highest possible green building rating, LEED-Platinum.

“With 109 campuses in diverse communities throughout the state, we have a unique opportunity to showcase sustainability and to demonstrate that doing the right thing can increase financial resources as well as quality of life,” said Chancellor Emeritus Young. “This is a role that few, if any, other institutions could play in creating a better future.”

To highlight best practices and effective strategies, the Summit will offer more than 40 educational sessions, led by the facilities planners, engineers, designers, financial planners, administrators and others responsible for conceiving and executing successful green community college building and training programs.

“There are many reasons why this Summit couldn’t come at a better time,” said Green Technology publisher Keith Miller. “Recent events point to the need to make the best use of existing resources and the importance of shoring up sectors of the economy with significant potential for growth.”

TWO SIDES OF BRAZIL

More on my CHANNEL!!! President Lula and his economic team implemented prudent fiscal and monetary policies which have been credited with helping shield Brazil from the worst of the global financial crisis of 2008 and 2009. That said, Brazil’s economy did not escape the crisis unscathed. After posting growth rates of 5.7% in 2007 and 5.1% in 2008, Brazil’s GDP dropped 0.2% in 2009. Several steps were taken by the government to minimize the impact of the crisis, including injecting more than US 0 billion of additional liquidity into the economy, providing tax cuts to manufacturers and consumers, and reducing Central Bank interest rates. Brazil emerged from the global financial crisis in 2009 and economic growth is estimated to reach 7.1% in 2010. A more sustainable growth level, in the range of 4.5%, is predicted for 2011. Brazil is now a net creditor nation, and the 2008-2009 financial crisis notwithstanding, has in recent years experienced sustained growth, strong exports, healthy external accounts, moderate inflation, decreasing unemployment, and reductions in the debt-to-GDP ratio. Brazil holds investment grade status from the major rating agencies. Significant challenges still remain in the Brazilian economy. The total tax burden is high, income distribution remains skewed, and the private business community complains of burdensome regulation. Annual interest rates for consumers (on credit cards, for example) can be as high as 150%. Brazil is generally open to and

Ecological Protection Requires Our Instantaneous Measures

Human Ecology
by n kw

Environmental protection refers to generating use of theories and methods regarding industrial science to coordinate the relationship between human beings additionally, the ecosystem, to resolve numerous problems, to protect and improve the natural environment. How I Use Evernote to Organize Everything (25) It mainly consists of taking administrative, legal, monetary and technological measures to gain rational using organic sources and also to stop ecological pollution and destruction. Gisele Bundchen’s Reason for steel elbow The ultimate aim is to take care of and develop the ecological stability, to expand useful reproduction of natural sources and to guarantee the sociable development. The Trend Bible to 180 degree elbow Alternatives Ecological Protection entails an array of aspects with complete strength, which entails numerous fields in natural and social sciences. What’s more, there’s also a distinctive research. Listed here are some of concentrated demonstrations of industrial destruction:

1. Soil destruction.
Consistent with reference point sources, you’ll find almost 110 countries (the total population of 10 million) whose fertile arable lands is in the diminish. In Africa, Asia and Latin America, as a consequence of loosing forests, over-exploitation of arable land and pasture and overgrazing, the dilemma of soil erosion is fairly serious. The bare land will become fairly susceptible, and can be subject to erosion of wind and rain. In some places, the yearly earth decline is more than a hundred tons each hectare.

2. Climate Change and Power Waste Greenhouse effect Threatening Individual Beings
Based on the predictions of 2500 representative experts, the sea ranges will rise and several densely populated areas will probably be flooded. The increase of temperature may also critically affect agricultural and ecological methods. It’s estimated that from 1990-2010, energy consumption in Asia also, the Pacific region will double, and that of Latin America will enhance by 50% -70%. Therefore, Western and deleloping nations will need to strengthen the technologies transfer process of energy conservation.

3. Reduction of Biological diversity.
Thanks to urbanization, agricultural development, deforestation and environmental contamination, natural places have turn out to be more compact and smaller sized, which has caused the annihilation of a lot of species. The extinction of some species not merely sales opportunities several new molecules which can be utilized in medicines production to vanish, but also brings about several genes which can help crops to tackle harsh local weather to disappear, even causes the plague.

4. Chemical Air pollution.
Numerous compounds caused by industrial improvement exist in the air, earth, water, crops, wildlife and individual bodies. Even the ice sheet, recognized as the planet’s final large organic eco-system continues to be contaminated. Individuals natural and organic compounds, chemical toxins, poisonous goods are concentrated throughout the foods chain, that will in the end form a threat to the fitness of vegetation and wildlife, cause cancer and reduce soil fertility.

The Asia-Europe Meeting

The idea of organizing an Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) was firstly launched by Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong at the third session of the East Asia-Europe Economic Forum. After a period of preparation, the inaugural Asia-Europe Meeting was held in Bangkok on March 2-3, 1996, marking a good start for the cooperation of the two regions

The purpose of ASEM is to create “a new comprehensive partnership between Asia and Europe for a greater growth” towards the 21st Century. The ASEM process is conducted on a basis of equal partnership, mutual respect and benefit. Three ASEM key dimensions, namely fostering political dialogue, reinforcing economic cooperation and promoting cooperation in other areas, are carried forward with the same impetus. ASEM is an open and evolutionary process, and uninstitutionalized; the enlargement of ASEM should be conducted on the basis of consensus by the Heads of State and Government. ASEM members consist of 15 nations of European Union (Britain, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, France, Finland,  Spain and Sweden), 7 ASEAN nations (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), 3 Northeast Asian nations (China, Japan and Korea) and the European Commission (EC). ASEM nations account for 38% of the population, 53.4% of GDP and 58% of the trade volume of the world.

The Summit is the ASEM highest decision-making level and is held on a regular basis of every two years in Asia and Europe alternatively. Meetings of Foreign Ministers, Economic Ministers and Finance Ministers are held between the Summits. The inaugural Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM I) was held in Bangkok in March 1996. The first Meeting of Foreign Ministers was held in Singapore in February 1997. The first Meeting of Finance Ministers was held in Thailand in September 1997. The first Meeting of Economic Ministers was held in Japan in September 1997. The first Meeting of Science-Technology Ministers was held in China in October 1999.

Ministers and Senior Officers Meetings (SOM) are responsible for the overall coordination of ASEM activities. Economic Ministers and Senior Officers Meetings on Trade and Investment (SOMTI), Finance Ministers and Deputy Ministers Meetings and General Directors of Custom Meetings are responsible for coordinating the cooperation in their respective fields. The frequent coordination and information exchanges are done through 4 ASEM coordinators (i.e. EC and the EU President presenting for Europe, 1 ASEAN nation and 1 Northeast nation representing for Asia).

Since ASEM I in Bangkok, the ASEM process has been broadened and rapid developments have been made in the three agreed dimensions. After ASEM n , though facing some difficulties due to the financial crisis in Asia, the circulation of the Euro and Replica Tag Heuer Watches EU enlargement in Europe, ASEM cooperation has been further strengthened. Most of the conclusions made in ASEM n and ASEM HI have been and are being implemented. Up to now, there have been more than 150 activities. 24 of 26 ASEM members have proposed initiatives or hosted ASEM activities.

The most prominent members are France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Japan and, most recently, China. ASEM has adopted important documents, such as Asia-Europe Cooperation Framework (AECF) identifying directions, principles and mechanisms of cooperation for ASEM, Investment Promotion Action Plan (IPAP) and Trade Facilitation Action Plan(TFAP), and has established the Asia-Europe Vision Group aimed at making recommendations on strengthening ASEM cooperation. ASEM has also formed the “Investment Experts Group” in order to implement the IPAP, and established the “Asia-Europe Environmental Technology Center” in Thailand and the “ASEM Trust Fund” (ATF) located at the World Bank.
